we are the proud owners of a new dual (gas and charcoal) grill. and boy did we take advantage of it yesterday. dinner consisted of grilled burgers, steak, and corn on the cob with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. i cut up some peaches, sprinkled on cinnamon, white sugar, and the juice from half a lemon and threw them on the grill as well. they are perfect served with vanilla bean ice cream (store-bought -- though i may be acquiring an ice cream maker next month. this makes me happy). it was the perfect finale to supper.
**most sites that i visited say to use freestone peaches, in which the pit falls easily from the flesh. i threw in a firmer white peach which was obviously the clingstone variety as the pit hung on stubbornly. now i know better. i enjoyed the yellow peach more anyway as it was softer and sweeter. must work on getting better grill marks next time.
