Obon Festival

the fam and i made a quick stop at the annual Obon Festival last weekend. i regret not going to any when we lived in hawaii, and we were there seven years. oh well. the festival was super crowded but the smell of familiar foods plus growling bellies held us captive (it was lunchtime), and we didn't mind waiting in long lines for fare such as tempura, gyoza, yakisoba, and beef teriyaki. there was even a shave ice booth ('shaved ice' rather, their signs said). i couldn't resist the artist store where i bought a few cute bowls and small dishes, items i'm sure will make their presence here on this blog at some point. thanks for looking!
