Aloha. My name is Athena, Hawaii transplant (7 years in paradise), now a temporary california resident. I studied science (biology) and healthcare (nursing) but ended up in the creative field. These days I homeschool my kids while my husband plays grad student.

This is my space for sharing my photos and thoughts. I originally blogged client sessions (families, kids, babies, etc.) but after moving to a new place and having no client base, I fell into shooting food completely by accident because it was the easiest thing to do to stay sharp, busy, and keep my camera from collecting dust. I haven't looked back. The bonus in all of this is that I'm slowly learning how to cook, but mostly bake, much to the delight of my family.

At the moment I'm into: Downton Abbey (hurry up, Season 3), Game of Thrones, Paper by FiftyThree, reading about the Titanic, and napping.

I'm located in the Monterey Bay area and am available for freelance photography projects, editorial work, and a limited number of portrait sessions. I recently became a volunteer photographer for the organization Operation Love Reunited.
